Andy Rooney, who stepped away from his “60 Minutes” perch last month after more than 30 years and then died on Friday at 92, was the subject of the news program’s last segment.
The show replayed much of Rooney’s last “60 Minutes” appearance and interview with Morley Safer during which he discussed his childhood, fighting in World War II, early career in comedy, friendships with news legends Harry Reasoner and Walter Cronkite, and tenure at CBS and “60 Minutes.”
Rooney told Safer said if he had the opportunity to do it all over again, he’d choose the job he had.
